Greenbelts are zones of natural vegetation along the shoreline that are used to help filter pollutants, stabilize shorelines, and provide key habitat. Areas of excessive shoreline erosion along lakes and streams are often in areas where trees and shrubs have been removed. If you have an interest in working with the Higgins Lake Foundation to complete a greenbelt installation/enhancement project, please complete the questions below in order for us to make a preliminary evaluation.
You may be eligible for a 50/50 cost match provided by the Higgins Lake Foundation. The maximum match fund for a greenbelt is $500 per site, for a seawall removal the match is $1,000 per site.
