The 27th annual Higgins Lake Awareness Day was held on August 6 at the R.A. MacMullan Center. Arriving by boat or by car it was a perfect Higgins Lake day for catching up with friends, enjoying great food from Fred’s and supporting projects that enhance and protect Higgins Lake.
Many of the guests left with a super deal from the live auction that featured a wide variety of items including sports packages, framed antique maps, a hand painted wagon and an African Safari! This “Fun(d) Raiser” was started by Rob Morley in 1989. Each board member was expected to sell ten tickets to the $100 per ticket raffle. The party was so much fun that word got out and ticket sales have increased every year. Many of this year’s guests have never missed “Awareness Day.” Please save the traditional date – first Saturday of August! Hope to see you again next year on August 5!
